Charles Manson New Prison Photo - Still Looking Good at 74 (pic inside)

Charles Manson is a hot piece. At 74 and after almost 40 years in prison, he’s still looking content, confident and at ease. New prison photo of Charles Manson, one of America’s most notorious mass murderers has been released by Californian correction officials. The photo had Charles Manson with his iconic swastika on the forehead.

August of 2009 will mark 40th anniversary of the Manson Family killings. It’s funny how the release of Charles Manson’s updated prison photo was scheduled just months prior to such anniversary. Maybe it’s just a random happenstance.

Check out the interview with Charles Manson if you haven’t seen it yet to get a picture of how bad ass Charles Manson. Obviously, at 74 he’s probably much calmer. He’s gray and balding, but he’s still famous Charles Manson.

To refresh your memory, Charles Manson and his four followers: Susan Atkins, Charles “Tex” Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten were convicted of several charges, including murder. Over two nights in August 1969, Manson Family members killed eight people. First they carried out the infamous Sharon Tate Murder, which left the pregnant actress dead in her house in Benedict Canyon. Her unborn baby was ripped from the womb. The following night Manson Family got together to murder Leno LaBianca and his wife Rosemary in Los Feliz.

Manson Murders Killers - Susan Atkins in the Middle

Charles Manson had something going about himself. He was a criminal who spent most of his life breaking the law, then being caught and sent to jail, and he was of smaller build, but there was something mesmerising about him, something that drew young women to follow him blindly and commit murders as per his requests. Susan Atkins is one of them.

As part of Manson Family, Susan Atkins as well as Linda Kasabian, Patricia Krenwinkel and Charles “Tex” Watson committed the Tate/LaBianca murders in which 6 people were killed, including actress Sharon Tate, the pregnant wife of Polish actor and filmmaker Roman Polanski. The following night, they stabbed to death two more people. Susan Atkins carried out the stabbing of pregnant Sharon Tate and then wrote word PIG on the front door of the home in in Tate’s blood.

Susan Atkins was convicted of murders and sentenced to death. After capital punishment was found unconstrituonal, her sentence was changed to life in prison. She’s has been in jail for 37 years – since October 1, 1969 – and is the longest serving female inmate in California prison system.

Susan Atkins is terminally ill. She’s suffering from brain cancer and had one of her legs amputated. Prison authorities are considering a “compassionate release”. After 37 years in jail, the notorious Manson Murders killer could be freed.

Debra Tate, sister and the only surviving relative of Sharon Tate, the life of which (and her unborn baby) was ended by the hand of Susan Atkins thinks wants her to remain in jail. She says Atkins showed her sister no mercy as she was sliting her throat.

Susan Atkins was previously denied parole 11 times. Charles Manson, the originator of killing ideas and the master brain behind all Manson Murders is still in jail, serving life in prison and ineligible for parole at least till 2012.

What do you think? She served 37 years in jail and is dying. She mercilessly killed an innocent, pregnant woman, but that was long ago. Should she be released and enjoy the life of a free woman during the last days of her life or should she pay her debt to society till the minute of her death?
